I totally disliked "As I Lay Dying"--just can't read Faulkner. And I read Richard Wright's "Invisible Man" & won't read him again.

But "Catch 22", "Snow Falling on Cedars" "The Grapes of Wrath" and "The Color Purple" are all excellent. I guess my favorite would be "The Color Purple." Alice Walker & Steinbeck are two of my favorite authors.

"Catch 22" is a war novel, I liked it. Ones I wouldn't pick: "The color purple", "the grapes of wrath", and "I, Tituba, black witch of Salem". They are not bad books just kinda dry, I thought. The rest I don't really know, I haven't read them all. I would suggest looking them up on cliff notes to find one you really like, if your going to have to read it.

I love The Color Purple, it is a very sad story with a really deep meaning. At the moment I'm reading Snow Falling on Cedars, and I really like it because it is really slow, soft and quiet.
