he was moving the toilet in our bathroom and threw out his back. he got out of bed and he couldnt get back into bed he was on the ground on his hands and knees and had to get us to get him a stepping ladder to help him get into bed. i think he needs to go to the hospital or something but idk if that would be any better than him getting bed rest at home. what should i do?

many times, bed rest and anti inflamatories will help but there's no way of knowing exactly what he did to his back. if it isn't better after that and a heating pad, i'd call the doc.

How old is your father? If he is elderly, take him to the hospital.

He are some red flags to watch for that would require immediate medical attention:

1. Loss of control of urination and defecation, especially not being able to urinate.

2. Numbness in feet or legs.

3. Inability to move anywhere after a dose of Tylenol and or Motrin.

If you tppk him to the hospital, or preferrably, an Urgent Care center, they would carefully exam him, perhpas take some X-rays, and definitely treat his pain.

Good Luck and God Bless.

Given that extra information, try to take hm in. Since he didn't "fall" a fracture is less likely, but the medics will put him in an uncomfortable back board and will likley stay on for a while in the ER.

If you can get him in a car, the better, otherwise call 911.
