I live in Vancouver and at night I see 4 strong beams of light that circle a portion of the sky over and over again. They come together and move apart. The shape of the light is circular, and it most visible during cloudy, overcast nights. The lights are visible all the way into the sky, so they must be very strong. I'm just wondering where they are coming from?

Very often those search lights originate from the PNE, and since The Fair at the PNE is going on right now, that is probably what you are seeing and from where. We used to live a block away from the PNE and so are familiar with it, especially when big events like the Fair are going on.

They are searchlights used for advertising and reflect off the overcast. Drive out there and see what they are selling. . . . . follow the lights!

Beacon lights are often used to attract people to carnivals, etc. Hop in the car & follow the lights, then the mystery will soon be over.

Probably from a car dealership. For some reason, they like to have huge spotlights going at night. Or it could be from some other special event.
