WHAT ARE THESE? WHAT KIND ARE THEY AND HOW TO GET RID OF them???

Question

I have weeds and grass mixed. I only want the grass ofcousre and I have blades of grass with thorns on top of them in clusters. they hurt like hell. How do I get rid of them?? pls help. thanks

Sounds like sandburs, Cenchrus species. They're a grass also, so handpulling or spot applications of a non-selective herbicide like Roundup is probably the way I'd go. Then you'll need to fertilize and/or lime your lawn and mow correctly to thicken up the desirable lawn and help keep the sandburs from recolonizing.

I wouldn't use most herbicides around small kids.

It kills the weeds but not the grass .

Hi, use some Ortho Weed and Feed. It really works well ,if you have that stuff mixed through-out your lawn. The only thing is thou,Your Baby. If it were me, I wouldn't use it because of the chemicals. I know Ortho's information center Say's it's safe once it is fully watered in,and dried ,but that takes three days and I would still worry. Wow, I just can't make up my mind today! Pour hot vinegar on the stuff! Bye

Home Depot Weed and Feed. Works fast. they even have Weed and Feed that kills bugs. What a cool world we live in.

sounds like sand or grass burrs. MSMA herbicide will kill them
