New laptop and internet installing :(?

Question

I got a new laptop; it says it's got wireless something installed inside. My house runs a Telus modem. The desktop runs by wires that connect to the modem and then to the phone line.
How do I use this "wireless" on my laptop?
or say How do I connect to the internet?

You need either a wireless access point (WAP) or a wireless router connected to your modem. These are really cheap to buy (I bought a router for $5 with a mail-in-rebate) normally in the $30-$50 range. You can find a variety on http://www.newegg.com though you can pick one up at RadioShack just as well. They are found in all electronics stores. (even at Staples!)

Just plug in your modem and your computers to the router or WAP and follow the instructions that came with it.
Should take about 5 minutes to set up up wi-fi, however I recommend you also set up WPA encryption on your wireless. It'll take a you a couple of minutes more but then you know the neighbors aren't using your internet connection or stealing your information.
