Ask him or her. If she won't tell, there could be many reasons. They may have fought, he may have insulted her, she may miss him, be angry with him, be miserable. If these aren't the reasons, I hate to say this, but it may be more extreme than even that...maybe, if he won't tell, he sexually abused her. Maybe he hit her or did some other form of physical abuse. If he's not that kind of person I'm REALLY sorry for saying it, but if all else fails, then you may have to look deeper into it like that. If it's not true I'm REAL sorry for insulting his trustworthiness.

If she won't tell you what happened, you need to call her father and ask.
If he acts too secretive about it, saying she was perfectly fine to him, then in all honesty, there may be something going on as far as sexual abuse.
Ask your daughter if she thinks going to see a therapist or counselor may help. Tell her that she needs to talk to someone about what happened at her dad's house and that she must eat.

really its going to be hard to help if you dont know whats wrong maybe you should ask her dad what happened. a lot of girls worry about their image so maybe thats part of it. or something happened with her friends at her dads house. but for now try to find little ways to like boost her confidence and try to spend time with her if she looks bored or depressed. hopefully you know what she likes to do so try to do it with her. but try to remember she might think of you as embarassing so just kind of chill.

either you should just ask her, or call her dad and find out what happened
this reminds me of the sisterhood of the traveling pants

it might be the father's fault or just the fact of her parents living in different locations might make her sad

Why not phone her dad and ask if he'd have a clue what could have upset her...?
