Well given what I've been struggling to write about recently, I'd say intensely personal childhood pain is the hardest thing for me to write about. It is tough to get back into the proper mindset and make it authentic sounding. I find that I can write good lines, but it feels like I'm still skimming the surface of the issues. I have one poem that still isn't done after 15 years (and yes it's very annoying that it isn't done yet--lol).

I guess for me, the hardest thing,
About which I can write.
Is that which is so awfully dark,
It won't let in the light.
I like to write of happy things,
and sometimes things so sad.
But dark and evil have no place,
In my work and I'm glad.
I like to write some love songs,
will frills and sappy mush.
I do it much and many say,
We wish that you would hush.
So I will for now, hope that answered your question adequately.

the hardest thing so far, was a letter to my father.
now we don't speak and haven't done for 3 years.
edit
sorry - didn't know this was in the poetry section. I'm also trying to write a book, but I also send words of love to someone daily in a different way, every day... some how, this seems to be the easiest thing for me to do for her..

The hardest thing for me to write about are the losses of some of my loved ones... everything else is fair game... I cried the whole time I wrote a blog about it once... (I'm such a sissy)

For me writting about painful memories,is much easier than to relay them, orally. Most, only see the tears of a clown,in person.

My formative years...life at home. It still haunts me sometimes, although it doesn't color everything in my life now like it used to. Amazing what happens when one finds true love and true unconditional acceptance....finally.
added: I used to write and paint a lot, it was the pain that gave me the desire to do so...

probally happiness of my own findings cause, idk, i'm not in the mood to write when i'm joyful cause i want to physically share it with a smile, and you can't put a smile into word very well, not for it to be the exact same, not even a picture can do an adaquite job of that.... oh, and love cause it's dumb and overly done.... ^_^
