Totally full of it.

"I heard that AMD processor is fastest"

Intel currently makes the three fastest processors.
Core 2 Extreme
Core 2 Quad
Core 2 Duo

Se for yourself.

"AMD is not completely compatible with Microsoft software"

Windows Millennium was probably the worst operating system Microsoft released. I imagine with all the problems it had, every manufacturer got caught in the finger pointing after Millennium was released.

AMD is and always has been compatible with Microsoft software.

I would argue that Intel processors have always been less prone to crashing than AMD processors. And that Intel processors always cost more than AMD processors for the same level of performance.

Rumors are not good information sources (even worse than Yahoo Answers).

About 2 years ago AMD had the fastest processor. Right now Intel does, though AMD is releasing new ones next year. If you need to buy the fastest processor in existence, that's important to know. Otherwise it doesn't matter who holds the current record, just compare speeds of the CPU's in your price range.

No compatibility issues with Microsoft OS's. I'm not aware of issues with other software - most software works with the OS, it doesn't care what the processor is.

From what I have heard the AMD vs Intel thing goes like this. If you have an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.2ghz processor it is the equivalent of a Pentium 4 3.0ghz. Which means right now that AMD is the better buy because you get more processing power for your money, but this is only true for the single core processors. The Intel dual core processors are better than the AMD ones are for a few reasons (which I know none of).

its six of one, intel is currently the leader, having caught up with amd on speed and amd not releasing its new designs yet. amd have traditionally been the choice of tinkerers because you could jack up the speeds by applying more voltage, but they also burned out easily. they are a bit cheaper, but at dell the differnce between a intel and an amd is like 50 bucks or so. I personally prefer intel, but then i use machines mainly for business and not games. and i could care less about overclocking. I want large l2 caches and system boards for the people that make the chip. my two cents;

AMD is still better bang for the $.

The error you got was easily fixed by a simple patch. I installed the patch on dozens computers.

There hasn't been any Intel vs AMD compatability issues in many years.
