Sorry I have been confused by a number of your questions. What is the difference between tights and pantyhose? I always thought that what you call pantyhose we (UK) call tights, so what on earth do you call tights? If you get what I mean?

I'll pretty much sum it up for you here. What constitutes as pantyhose in America? Sheer tights traditionally with a denier rating of 40 or lower are considered pantyhose. Wolford's Satin Touch 20's or even semi-transparent Neon 40's would be classified as pantyhose here. To qualify as tights in America would be anything opaque such as Wolford's Satin Deluxe 50's or Falke Seidenglatt. Anything that would cover up any blemishes on the leg would be called tights. To sum it up....sheers are pantyhose, opaques are tights. Hope that solves your mystery.

In the US, pantyhose are sheer nylon/lycra fabric....Typically very thin and very sheer... Sometimes it's hard to tell if a woman has them on!
In the US, tights are a thicker fabric, usually not sheer at all, and heavier... Sometimes they're slightly opaque...

In UK, both are considered tights...

Hope this helps...

For the sake of comparison, in the UK, what you call "tights" covers both "pantyhose" and "tights" in the US.

In the US, "pantyhose" refers to what the UK would call "sheer tights" (not opaque). What the US refers to as "tights" would be what is called "opaque tights" in the UK.

Hope this helps.

Panty hose are a lot thinner, almost see through. Tights are made of a thicker material, that are more durable and warmer for winter. They also dont get runs and scratches in them like panty hose do. Since tights ar ethicker, they also show color a lot more, so people wear bright colored ones. It is in style to wear footless tights under mini skirts.

Normally they are the same. Tights ALSO refer to some really tight spandex-y type pants, too.

pantyhose are sheer or semi sheer dress stockings with panty and stockings all in one piece
Tights are usually opaque and or knit like a stocking of heavier yarn --worn mostly for warmth

here tights are used when your going to be active, cause they are made from a more durable fabric - spandex.
pantyhose are what ladies wear instead of dress socks, and they rip easily
