Absolutely. Intellect and the Bush admin does not compute. The Bush admin generate foreign policy via their "gut" feelings. Historical perspective, social-political dynamics, and a history of lessons-learned would have been too complicated for them to comprehend.

'Bankrupt' suggests that at one point there was something in the bank. The only 'policy' the Bush Junta ever had is to create an American Empire across as much of the oil bearing planet as possible. As long as the world 'depends' on oil, the thugs that control the oil get to make the rules. Protecting this 19th century 'oil only' energy policy is what this war and attempted occupation is all about. Even if it 'worked' it would still be a worthless expendure of lives and money when 21st century technology could easily trump the 'oil' argument.

Why stop at the Iraq policy? Why not ask if the whole administration is intellectually bankrupt? And the answer is yes. This whole policy of Bush doing whatever he wants no matter what the people of the USA let alone the majority of his party thinks, is bringing the us to our knees. We are a joke in the international community, the bully who does as it wishes because of its' wealth and technological military might. Our economy is taking a hit, our education system is broken, the housing market is in the tank, our president's administration is jumping ship left and right... Come on, isn't it obvious?

No I think the Iraqis need to step up and take responsibility for their own country so we can leave. It is religious factions that are fighting each other. This was occurring before Sadam and he was only able to control it by being a brutal dictator. Iraqi's should show the world that they can live in peace Sunni and Shia together.

Try to see a very recently released documentary film: "No End in Sight". The documented poverty of intellect is astounding. It will not be widely distributed and will quickly go out of circulation.

At some point, it should be made available for free downloading. It will convince even the morons among us.

Mr. Bush has invoked Vietnam to argue against leaving Iraq. That argument is specious, but there is a chilling similarity between the two American foreign policy disasters. In Vietnam, as in Iraq, American presidents and military leaders went to great lengths to pretend that victory was at hand when nothing could be farther from the truth.

I suppose it depends on whether you think action against a despot is "intellectually bankrupt." I think it is a first step.
