Poor in US is very different from poor in lets say India, China, Africa.
Poor in India will be very obvious.
Poor in US? Ahmm not sure.
I see a man every morning rummaging through trash on his cellphone. Wanting to be like the rest. "Look I am important too" He is a regular too. He uses our store as refuge from the 100 degree weather.
Guys living in the crime ridden worst part of town wearing $100 dollar shoes and major brand clothing.
You could tell by clothing some of the time. Not most.

Anyone with proof of income and a cosigner can pull a late model Camry and put some fancy wheels on it. If you ask them why they don't have health coverage they will tell you they can't afford it.
Drive by K-Mart see what kind of people shop there.
Cars don't matter either. You will see some of the latest model Infiniti, BMW, and homeless man on foot who shop there.
McDonalds? All kinds of people eat there, homeless eat and sleep there and just about anyone uses the drive through.
The guy in BMW might never actually park and enter the store.

It is not where you shop, where you eat , what you were.
It is how much you have saved and can carry over to next month. Subtract all your debt, cars, homes, and other credit.

In US no one should be poor, unless you are unable to perform.

A rich man may have it all but is the most miserable and sad person. A poor man may have nothing but still manages to smile and stay happy. It isn't all about the clothes they wear and the things they may or may not have. Have a good evening!

rich guys usually have big houses and good cars and jobs that pay alot. There are some rich guys who like to show off and wear expensive clothes but the richest will just wear ordinary clothes and dont really like talking about their wealth. they r the really rich ones. The ones who like to show off still have some way to go before they are as rich as they want to be.
Poor guys are poor so they probly dont own a house. they own a few clothes. probly dont own a car.

The two biggest things I am guessing would be attire and personal demeanor. Because the "well-bred" people so to speak almost always take pride in both their attire and etiquette.

Car is a bad guess because I've known a lot of people with money who either don't drive a luxery car during casual days, or even at all, go to the wealthiest part of your town and you'll see the the biggest mansions often have one or two luxery cars and then one or two average cars. You'll also find, when you look at statistics, that a high proportion of people who go all out with a Cadallac Escalade are going beyond their means, that's why sometimes you see a luxery car and you expect the driver to look like the Duke of Windsor, instead he looks like he works at the grocery store.

The type of house they live in is usually a pretty good guess, that is, if you even have the chance to see it.
