i think the common saying would be to look at his shoes. supposedly, this is the telltale sign. but realistically, there is no real way. my boss is a multi-millionaire. he wears the same jeans everyday. then he just wears different old, raggedy t-shirts mon - thurs and always a raggedy sweatshirt on friday. he takes care of himself and isn't into labels or riches. his equally rich brother only wears name brands, has a 9 bedroom home for just him and his wife, sends his dog to daycare even though his wife is home all day, has an assistant to get him lunch and pick up his dry cleaning. he is all about appearances. so, instead of looking for rich man or a poor man, look for a nice man not a prick.

I'm rich because I am happy with what I have. A poor man/woman always "needs" more. Rich is an attitude.

It's kinda the same as the begger man and the thief. The begger man is the poor man and the thief is the rich man. The difference is, the fact that the rich doctor and lawyer don't have the pride of the Indian Chief.

The obvious answer is clothing and/or accessories. Though I have known exceptions to the rule, such as a millionaire who wore overalls and drove an old station-wagon. People who are confident don't usually have to draw overt attention to themselves, so it all depends on the person. Many people strive to give the impression of having money, so possessing expensive material items isn't always a revelation of one's economic status. There is no definitive answer.

If you want to know what a man is worth look at his shoes.

I agree with answer #2, my ex-boss was a self-made millionare and wore the same clothes days in a row but he only wore shoes from Macy*s that cost about $90. His son was a stuck up that only wore name brands, he'd bring in his wife's trash and tell the girls in the office to pick what they wanted (clothes) some of it still had tags on it of $149, $299, she was a lawyer so she could afford to trash that kind of money. The other son worked on roofs and stuff so he always looked like crap.

A poor person usually wears sneakers from Kmart and claims that they are 'just as good'
They are not just as good. Cheap shoes cut the backs of your heels, have no arch support and fall apart before you are done with them. So why not just save the money for a good pair.

I am not impressed by people in the ghetto wearing head to toe Baby Phat because it's cheap quality.
If you want to impress people with how you spend money wear Nautica, Vitamina, Rock & Republic, or authentic Gucci and DONT ever spend less than $200 on your shoes.

I've seen underwear catalogs where a bra cost no less than $495! How rich are the rich? Five hundred dollars on a bra. I went to Saks Fifth Avenue and the Clearance bras were $1,250.00. ON CLEARANCE! If they are spending $1,250 on a clearance bra what do you suppose they are spending on their shoes? These are the people that spend no less than $100 per plate at a restaurant. I'm not impressed by a Lexus, Maserati starts at $100,000.00. Bentley and Aston Martin are the same or more.
