A "no contest" plea is:

Saying, "Yeah, judge, I am 18 years old, I don't have a license, and I had a blood alcohol level of .009 . . . but, I'm not going to agree that all of those things together are the crime I'm being charged with."

In effect, it's an admission of the facts, but a denial of the crime.

It can protect you from civil liability.

DEFINITELY ask for an attorney -- DEFINITELY.

And . . . say nothing (by nothing, I mean -- give them your name and social security number. That's IT).

You will spend time in jail, up to 180 days, for Minor Consumption. You will lose the ability to get your license until you are 21. I suggest you ask the judge for an attorney! ALSO DO NOT PLEAD GUILTY. If you are likely to be convicted at trial, it is best to plead No Contest (Nolo Contendere). This is NOT the same as a guilty plea, and you preserve certain rights with a No Contest plea.
