Wow, so many I have read over the years.

Dragonriders of Pern series by Ann McCaffrey. Some were written many years ago, but you would never know it. And she is the only person to deal with time travel correctly.

Dragonlance series by Weiss and Hickman. read them in the 80s, when they first came out, re-read them recently and was thrilled to see a few new books that came out this year.

David Eddings books about Belgarath the sorcerer. Very well written, I really enjoyed all these.

I loved reading the Riverworld series.

I also loved that series-oh, I can't remember the name of it. It was way in the future and this man has kind of beat up spaceship and he will do things legal and sometimes not so legal. On his ship he has a woman who is in a group of women who are sort of like geishas, and she will have sex for a price, but she is very high class and has her own smaller space ship in the bigger one. There is also a preacher on board who is celebate, but can kill if he has to. There is a young dr and his younger sister with special powers that the global "establishment" is after and even has a bounty out for.

They go from planet to planet having adventures. I have to get those dvds. SciFi channel runs this show from time to time. Oh, and their mechanic is a girl next door trusting type.

Really wonderful show. I was so dissappointed when it was dropped- I think from fox. Wish I could remember the name of if.

OH!! I know:
You have to read the series by Terry Goodkind. It's the best written by a fantasy writer in my opinion so far. The first book is called Wizard's First Rule, and each book is better than the last.
Just give the first book a chance (it gets really good about halfway through).
The story is mainly about one man discovering who he really is and through much pain and emotional turmoil, must defeat his enemies. These books have intense human drama.

I loved "His Dark Materials" series by Philip Pullman, and you might want to read these before the first movie comes out in December. I also liked the "Thursday Next" novels, which are especially fun if you read a lot of literature, because Thursday keeps going on adventures inside famous novels.

This might sound terribly lame, but I assure you these are good books. The "Dark Elf" Trilogy by R.A. Salvatore--it's part of the "Forgotten Realms" series. I don't like fantasy (and I definitely don't like Role Playing Games like Forgotten Realms), but a friend of mind bugged me until I broke down and read them, and I really enjoyed them. Also, a lot of people like Terry Brooks' "Shannara" books. Even if you don't read the whole series, you should probably read "The Sword of Shannara."
