all minimum and maximum hieghts for the installation of a velux window of any shape and size will come with the velux window you buy. a lot also depends on the pitch of the roof.

Fluffyhead 24 is right, there is not a straight forward answer because there are issues relating to if the glass is to low it needs to be saftey glass with child proof locks. If it's a window in loft and your creating a new room then it may need to be an escape window which has to be certain dimensions and no more than 1100mm from the finished floor level, I could go on and on........

you will need to check with local building control ..they tend to vary ..here its 1100mm ..or else a child could fall through it ..however you can buy a velux that fits at floor level ..this converts to a balcony that you can walk on ..

Please make sure you get sound advice from your local building inspector - there are different restrictions which apply for differing situations/installations. Sorry there is not a simple answer on this one, you really need to speak to expert who knows building regs.

If I remember rightly my carpenter told me that mine had to be at least 900mm from the floor, otherwise you have to put a horizontal bar across them.
