My mower will mulch. However, because of all of the rain in my area, the grass was VERY high and some areas of my yard needed to be raked.

I live in a neighborhood, they will not allow compost heaps.

Could be. Depends on the type grass, how dry they are, how deep you put them, where you put them.

Avoid reusing bermudagrass clipping or anything that might root and take off.

Let them dry out before using them as a mulch. Wet they will clump and form a impenetrable to water barrier. You could spread them on the driveway to dry them quickly.

How deep? Well you probably won't have enough to put down more than a few inches at a time. You are safe.

The biggie is where. Don't mound them around the trunk! Mice could move in and nest there.....and chew the bark off the tree. Ideally you'd mulch under the entire canopy......so if the tree was 20 feet across you'd go 10 feet either side of the trunk. That may be a bit extreme for you, but if you could have at least 4-5 feet out from the trunk on all sides, I could be happy.

Yes its ok but keep away from the trunk and not too deep maybee and inch or two. When grass clippings rot they generate a lot of heat and this can damage the trunk

Empty a catcher of clippings in a pile and leave for a few days and then put your hand into the middle and feel the heat

It won't hurt it. It would be better if it was composted first though. Ever thought of making one? A compost heap I mean. You could get one of those little kits for a small one. My sister made one ,and its really amazing that all that gunk ,turns into good smelling mulch! It's just like buying expensive Potting Soil from a Garden Supply Store.
