i just replace the water pump and one of hose clamp wasn't tight enough an while i was driveing the hose came off an d the engine shut down on me i tried to start it back but it won't start so i spoke to a machanic friend of mine he told me it might be just a water gasket because theres no oil in the water so i took it to a shop to have my gasket replace but the machanic said my engine is busted but i know it's only my gasket so if anyone out there can give me some advise on this problem it will be greatly appreciated.

1; there is no such thing as a Water Gasket. 2; You may have had warn clamps, bad hoses, stuck thermostat, rust in the radiator. 3; Number 2 is academic now, if the Eng. is gone (Bad) you may want to replace it, it's going to cost you 1,400 or more + instillation + radiator and anything else that is bad. 4; if that isn't in you budget you might want to think about a new or good used car. Sorry for the bad news but that's how it goes sometimes.

Generaly on todays aluminum heads, when they heat up, they tend to warp and will never seal right unless you have them machined (shaved).

Not to mention all the other damage caused by the 600 degree engine.

You may want to look into a replacement/used engine.
It may be cheaper in the long run.
