We have a 2000 protege LX, now the rear passenser side foot well are full of water. I think the drain hose is clogged and the mechanics said the drain hose is missing. The drain hose for the evaporator. I can't seem to find the drain hose. I saw a little black hole under the hood below the two lines goes into the ac.
The mazda dealership said the hose costs $31 and labor $400. I hope I can do it myself since I don't think it's that hard. Do I have to lift the car up to find the hose or to replace it? And where is it?

Also, I know it's special for protege, but why would the water coming in from the carpet beneath the front passenger seat instead of the firewall?

Thanks

Josh

I checked all the other foot wells and trunk and doors, and there is no water at all except the right rear foot well. No leaking when rain but only when ac is on and it's humid outside. It doesn’t have a sunroof and I heard that usually the water will be in the front but for protégé it's special. The carpet in the rear foot well is cut for some purpose from the factory and in my guess that’s why the water will come out from the back before the front.
The big question is if the drain hose is there, how can I see it? From the hood, underside of the car, or dashboard? And if it’s not there, how and where should I plug it in where I buy the parts from the dealership?

Thanks a lot

must time when that thing happens is not a cloged line the evaporator itself is cloged so you have to take it out and clean it so the water will go outside the car

if your car dont have the hose then installing is very very easy since that hose dont need any thing to hold it down it is plug and play

but trying to explain where is the hole for the evaporator is a bit hard here so buy the repair manual it have to say how to clean evaporator and uncluged it

If there is water in the back seat floor well, the water leak is probably in the back also. A leaking A/C evaporator will get the front passenger floor well wet.

Check for water tracks around windows and door. Also check sunroof drains if equipped. Do you get water in back when it rains, having gone through car wash or only when A/C has been on. Might check trunk also.
