From south Minnesota (Austin) to the North western tip of Florida (Pensacola) which is almost a straight south drive is 1,167 miles - google map get directions.

That is the shortest distance.

From Austin MN to Jacksonville FL is 1,341 miles.

I tried going from the MN-WI border at La Crosse down to Pensacola Florida but it is in fact longer in miles because of the different route. (1,198)

Depends on which city in Florida and which city in Minnesota. And Google Maps can give you driving distances. If you're flying, any airline will give you the miles you spend in the air. That will give you a rough idea of the distance.

Log on to Google maps or Mapquest. Either one will give you mileage and directions city to city or street address to street address, etc.
