A number of acceptable scrabble words, especially the very short ones seem to be abbreviations and not actual words.

I dunno. For Literati, Yahoo uses Dictionary.com as its official reference. Sometimes there is a lag from the time Dictionary.com updates its dictionary and the time Yahoo then updates its files. So, it could be a lag thing or perhaps there are some differences from the official Scrabble dictionary. Literati has to be somewhat different from Scrabble so as not to incur a copyright lawsuit.

I believe Literati uses the TWL Dictionary I may be wrong, but I do know you can play Sowpods games at http://www.isc.ro Mazzy :)
