Most apartment complexes require a minimum monthly income for you to qualify; typically you need to make three times the monthly rent. That's not a definite but it is an industry standard. If your rent is $500 per month you need to make $1500 per month (before taxes, usually). You didn't specify how many hours you work, but if you work a normal 40 hour work week, then you can probably afford a monthly rent amount of about $500. Don't forget to take into consideration your other bills; car, insurance, gas, groceries, utilities, etc.

Using the old income rule to figure rent, you can afford to pay $57.00 per month rent. I don't think it would an upscale unit with a pool.

Not really sure what you are asking. Where do you live? How much can you pay in rent?

I'm sure there are plenty of apartments you can get on that, but it will be tight and they will not be nice places.

Sounds like you might need to take out a second job if you don't want to live with mommy and daddy anymore.
I'd stay put. Grown up life isn't all it's cracked up to be.
