It's a new unit, installed by maintenance. No identifying model numbers are visible. Front does not pull off. Levers are adjustable for direction of air flow, and two control knobs: temp and mode.

Primarily, the unit will recirculate the inside air. Some air leaks out through the cracks in the door or around the unit, and so there are spaces for outside air to come in as well.

As the warm, moist air crosses the cooing fins, it releases its heat, and also the stored moisture, so, yes, it does de-humidify the air in the room.

The air leaving the unit should be around 20 degrees cooler than the air entering.

The unit recirculates the room air but there should be a lever to bring in fresh air from outside. But it is usually not very much air brought in. All air conditioners dehumidify. For more info on humidity check out the indoor air quality page at www.hvac-for-beginners.com

Recirculating is common, but you can opt to get fresh air by selecting on most models. More efficient recirculating. All air-conditioners dehumidify, less moisture the cooler you feel. To big of a unit will shut off to early and it will feel damp (clammy) cold.
