Great question. Satan not only is a neighbor of ours but he is also present within us. Not loving him is a bit like saying that you do not love a certain part of your body which of course would not be right. The question then is Satan really a part of your body? My response is No. Then if you are saying something that resides in your body is to be loved then I am afraid by that logic you should also love your feces as they also transiently reside in your body.

Think about your question theologically:
1. Satan is not omni-present, that is a quality of a divine nature, and Satan for all her power, is a mere creature.
2. That Satan exists is testimony to God's love for this tragic creature, but that experience of knowing that God loves the fallen angel, simply inflames its fear and resistance.
3. One might "love" Satan, at least by acknowledging with pity the tragedy of her condition and the depth of her state of despair. But one should never trust such a creature, as your overtures of pity would be met with nothing but scorn. Satan cannot harm God or change her fallen state, and as such, its foul anger is directed toward the creatures of God, who reflect in their existence the radiant image of the divine nature, a radiance that the evil one has lost forever.

But is Satan your neighbor? LOL
Go ahead, love everything! You can also love hatred if you like! But that makes no sense, does it?
It sounds like you would agree with a little sympathy for the devil. Sure, why not? Poor fallen thing! "Help me, I am Satan; I have fallen and I can't get up!" From what I hear, this Satan guy will suck in anybody who shows a little compassion in his direction.
It all seems a bit fairy tale to me.

Well I have to say this question is religious but, I'll answer anyways.
To love someone you have to be forgiving and honest. Even though Satan isn't forgiving and honest God is.The Lord himself is a forgiving and understanding person. The people on earth might not love him but god always will.

In the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus said that our "neighbor" is not just someone who lives close to us, but any person we come upon who is in need. The command to "Love thy neighbor" reflects how we treat our fellow human beings, those we come into contact with on a day to day basis, especially those who we have the opportunity to do good to.

Good question. God didn't say don't love satan, because he said love all of your enemy's. But he did say that satan thought that he was better than God. So God threw satan out of heaven and down to earth and named him prince of this world. Satan is still our enemy so we should attack. But don't listen to satan. He tries to manipulate your mind into turning away from God. I think this is more information then you wanted. But I hope it helps you understand.

who's to say we don't already worship Satan, when we shop at wall-mart, or invest in pharmaceutical companies. We already enslave third world countries, and we exploit the sick and dying with patches rather then cures, we steal food from babies with downsizing, and we condemn our neighbors to poverty with off-shoring. The love of money is worshiping Satan. long live capitalism.

loving Satan would be turning your back on God. loving evil is hating good.
and "love thy neighbor" is said so that we love people so that they may see good and ignore the evil.

First of all, "LOVE" refers to Charity or being Charitable ... it has NOTHING to do with Affection, which is the common misnomer and connotative understanding of the word .......
Secondly, we are being Charitable to our enemies when we DON'T put a cattle Prod up their asses and givem a full jolt ... we are being Charitable to our enemies when we only severely beat their asses when we could, in fact, have killed them ....... and if one is merciful to the cruel, one ends up being cruel to the merciful .......
Finally; What Creator-God said was ... "IF your BROTHER repents, you must forgive him ..." IF ....... and contrary to another popular misnomer, we are NOT all Brothers ... Your Brother is only that person(s) who believes and lives as you do .......
We are not called upon to Blanket-Forgive everybody, or ANYbody ....... Only those who actually Repent and ask forgiveness ... None of us is GOD, tho' some of us THINK we are ... we do not have the Power to Blanket-Forgive anybody and neither are we called upon or commanded to do so ....... And satan will never, ask your forgiveness, which is why we are told to, "Work against evil in every way ..."
Further; "TOLERANCE" is the worst thing that one can commit himself to ... if we are Tolerant of evil, we give the appearance of condoning it, which certainly devolves into promoting it, then who is at fault??? Respect is what we need to understand and practice, not Tolerance ... Respect a person's right to think and do and be different from yourself, as long as no one elses customs/mores/opinions are forced upon you ....... Your Right to swing your fist stops at the end of my nose ....... Differences among people do not make people evil, necessarily ....... just Different ....... Be Charitable to your Neighbor ....... Don't shoot him just because he is different from you .......

People do it all the time.
And the dark smudge can be useful to create a contrast in ordinary existence. Everything has a purpose.
