Assuming you are in the UK you can apply for a peddler's certificate from your local police authority.
They cost about £12 and last for one year.

Anyways ... where I come from, anyone who wants to sell goods in a public place, like a market or just on the street, needs a permit from the municipality or, better yet, a business licence. There are very strict laws in BC to protect the consumer from homemade food, toys, etc.

Normally, a permit to sell and the proper tax forms filed. Remember, justbecaused you produced it (you didn't say what it was) does not mean it isn't copyrighted or licensed to someone else. Disney and Harley Davidson are two that you do not want to mess with.
