It's a tropical plant and cold winters will kill it.
It would probably survive a zone 9 and 10 winter. I know for fact that it does not survive zone 7.

Tradescantia albiflora or 'wandering Jew' is usually kept as a houseplant. It can only be grown outdoors when the winter temperature does not go below 45 - 50 deg. F. The plant lives only about two growing seasons.

We had a whole line of wandering jew that would actually survive throughout the entire seasons, but where I lived, the coldest it ever got was around 50 degrees farenheit and it rained year-round, so a pretty 'tropical' region. If you live in a place where it gets colder, you might think to move it indoors during the winter so it won't die out at all, otherwise the winter snap could kill all and make it to where it won't come back up.

Wandering Jew or tradescanthia comes in many forms shapes and sizes. We need to be more specific in terms of the botanical name. However, in a moist sub-tropical climate they can be planted in your garden but most varieties can become invasive if not controlled.
