The distance to Alpha Centaurai is 6.0 x 10^16 METERS. If space ship Fang can travel 8.0 x 10^7 KILOMETERS in 2.0 years, how many years does it take to reach Alpha Centaurai?

Sorry For the Caps

Originally people answer to this question was 1.5 x 10^9, but i need to know if it is right because i am dealing with Meters and Kilometers. And i think they answered the question assuming both numbers were meters.

convert meters to kilometers or kilometers to meters before attempting to solve--remember that the metric system is based on 10 (so much easier to use than the other method of measurement)

8.0 * 10^7 kilometers = 8.0*10^10 meters (multply by 1000, or 10^3, to convert to meters). Divide that by two to get 4.0 * 10^10 meters that Fang can travel in ONE year. Divide 6.0 * 10^16 by 4.0 * 10^10. You would get:

1.5 * 10^6, which is the answer.

The distance is 6.0x10^13 km. and the speed is 4.0x10^7km./year so the time is 1.5x10^6 years.
