You never know what will appear when he comes out of his shell. My husband was the same way when we got together.
Maybe being with you will help build up his self-esteem and you will be able to get to know him better. That is probably the only way you will get a chance to see what he is really like.
Give him a chance, but if you do, be gentle with him.

Does it bother you how short and thin he is? Because if it doesn't bother you then let him know, because he may get a confidence boost out of that.
