I just saw a video of a woman provoking a fight with a man for having made some lewd comments about her, and the man fought back and inevitably "won". She was getting verbally and physically aggressive with him, and by the time she started throwing punches at his face, he decided that enough was enough, gave her a good, hard knock against the head and she was stunned enough not to get back up and start yapping like some chihuahua in heat.
There were many comments commending the girl for "putting up a fight" (even though she lost) and looking down on the guy for hitting a woman.
I don't get this logic. Say you come across a bear. Do you think that by being weaker, slapping the bear in the face would only make him restrain you lol? Why is it the man's responsiblity to not hurt the woman, when the real responsibility should be on the woman to know that she'd never hold her own in a fight against a fully-grown man? And why hit him? Tell the loser off and just leave!

operative word here is "defend." If attacked, and assulted, self defense no matter what the sex is ok. Tradition portrays females as the weaker sex. Not if the wack job has a Gensu however.....

I don't know, I may get a few thumbs down but I do not think that is right. Most of the time a woman will not hear something that she has never heard before. We always say that the bigger person walks away. There is a point where defending yourself against rude comments crosses the line...when the woman gets physical with the man then he should have every right to defend himself in a reasonable manner. I am not saying that hitting her upside the head and knocking her back/down was the right thing to do, but he should have been able to do something. If a woman feels big enough to pick a fight then she should be ready for the man to defend himself..and it goes both ways. If a man says something obscene and rude toward a woman he should not automatically suspect that she will just walk away without letting her voice be heard as well.

Good question. As the father of two girls, I am not one for hitting women, but, I teach my daughters, if you are going to act like a man, then you need to be prepared to get treated like one. I tell them not to take advantage of the fact than men are not supposed to hit them.

In other words, it is just as wrong for women to take advantage of the fact that men are not suppose to hit them.

By the way, if the man on the video would have called the police instead of retaliating, then the woman would have been arrested for assault.

No, he was not wrong. Most men would have done the same thing. It is good to have witnesses for that type of confrontation, because the woman will lie in court to punish the man, and the jury may believe her.

I thought woman wanted equality, well if a man attacks another man there is a chance he will get his butt kicked. A woman should expect no quarter in a fight with a man just because of her gender.

What would you do if a woman ran at you with a knife and you had a concealed carry permit? If you don't want a fight, don't start one. I for one swatted a fly just now because it was bugging me. Oops, I should pick on someone my own size!

If she initiated the physical confrontation, he has the right to defend himself. Basically, if she physically attacks him, he has the right to use reasonable force (one punch would be reasonable) to stop her from attacking him.
