I began thinking of "The Three Fold Law" of Magick "Whatever you send out returns three fold." I wondered whether "fold" was just an antiquity of language. Then I took a piece of paper to represent the sending with the normal 2 sides and folded it in half, 3 times. The amount of sides and the strength of the structure made by the folds was far beyond the paper I had begun with.

Having never really thought about that before and being good at patterns but not math I naturally had to pick up a piece of paper.

This hit home for me when I used a piece of square paper rather than rectangle. I love the symbolism! I would imagine that had I a protractor and scissors to make a circular piece of paper it would be better still.

Looking at the result I'd aggree that there's a geometric element involved. And a great reminder for the day!

It could be figured as either.

Usually, that phrase means that that goes around comes around three times as powerfully, much like your folded paper analogy. It could also mean that the same thing will come back at you three times. This, to me, doesn't make quite as much sense, but have an open mind towards it.

So to answer your question, I do think that it is a geometric progression.

Three fold means, three times as bad. Say, you cast a bad spell on someone else, negative energy will return to you three times as worse or even just three times over. It doesn't necessarily mean your spell is going to return to you just as bad or worse; but rather the negative energy will cause things to go wrong in your life.

I believe that the energy return is exponential Terry. Much greater than merely three times.
