On my Yahoo! and my ESPN College Pick 'Em, I actually picked App State to upset them. I remember a few weeks ago looking at the Week 1 schedule and seeing the matchup and thinking "Whoa. That's not going to be an easy game!" I knew App State had won the last two 1AA championships and I watched them in their championship game last season and remembered they had a kid who was a national track star and NCAA finalist sprinter. They looked explosive. I wasn't 100 percent positive they would upset them, but I knew it wouldn't be your average D1A vs D1AA season opener blowout....I would have bet on it, but Vegas wouldn't even give the game a point spread :-) Michigan has some problems on defense, and App State had the kind of offense that can exploit that. Yes App State capitalized on some Michigan mistakes, but Michigan also capitalized on some App State mistakes....if you watched the game, or seen the highlights....Michigan also didn't have the insight on a very good App State team. They were looking past them to Oregon and beyond. You can't completely blame Carr, he wasn't actually out there on the field...and that is where this game was won....This just goes to show that you can't count on preseason polls...look at Ohio State last year...or Notre Dame last year! (preseason 1 and 2)....we'll just have to see what happens as the season progresses...let's see what happens to USC....

PS can you spell Lloyd with 3 L's now??

Appy State has had back-to-back Championship wins in their division. They are used to winning and they don't overlook any details in game preparation.

Michigan? I guess they forgot they had a game to play.

Michigan was beaten by the better prepared team yesterday. Maybe they'll learn a lesson?

It seems that Lloyd Carr & his boys underestimated them and didn't prepare adequately for the game. Frankly the fact that U of M has lost 3 games in a row suggests that they're not the Wolverines of old.

Took them too lightly. Was supposed to be a cake walk but Appalachian State was Division 1AA national champs the year before. Plus I say they played with their heads up their ***.
