Not sure what a "normal racial question" is.

As for "America" being "weird" about race, eh.... Depends.

Based on my experience, most white folks don't care and are tired of hearing about it.

Yes because race is still a really touchy subject and sometimes people aren't willing to concede that racism is still prevalent in areas of the United States.

Yes. America is the worse place to discuss race, politics, and society. Sooo very shallow.

definitely. i live in southern New Mexico, and actually i know quite a few Hispanics who are racists to whites--definitely not saying everyone here is like that. but i'm Indian in any case, and race plays a big role here (in america) people always expect me to be smart because i'm asian. :(
