The language of the country you want to work.
If you want to work in Spain, Italy or France the local language is a pro, if you want to work in one of the former communist countries, the local language is a must and not easy.
Scandinavia, Netherlands, Flanders, Switzerland you get by with just English, as far as the local contacts are concerned.
Germany, Austria German will be a pro.
For the tourists, they come from all over the world, but if they do not speak English they normally have a guide that speaks their own language.
You would have to be native speaker to do that.

According to http://www.theskilledtraveler.com after English, it would be French, Arabic, and Chinese(with Japanese right after that).
