Difficult to say. If the Big Bang theory is correct then the next question would be: Was there a Big Bang before? If Yes, How many?
If you accept that God is the Creator and that God is Eternal then the question is: What did God do before He/She/It started creating?
If God is the eternal Creator than creation is just as eternal as the Creator. All THINGS have a beginning and have an end but the creation itself continues. Just Like humanity: the individual elements come and go but humanity continues.

We have no real knowledge about events before the Big Bang or just as it was happening, or whether the Big Bang was caused by something else. It is possible that there were an infinite number of Universes before ours, and that our Big Bang is just another of these events. It is also possible that ours is the first and only Big Bang.

Your question could be answered in terms of Quantum Mechanical explanations... However, to say whether it is correct or incorrect that there was nothing before everything cannot be exactly answered because it is out of our capabilities as humans beings to fully know the origin of everything.
In Quantum Mechanical aspects, it was once stated by Stephen Hawking, who is one of the leading experts in the study of the Big Bang, that by saying what came before the Big Bang is like saying what lies north of the north pole. It is rather redundand to say whether there was anything before the Big Bang or "God".
In my own perspective, saying that our origin is from nothing is actually both correct and incorrect.
I believe in such as we can never really say what existed or what did not exist before "creation".

Apparently not. All the matter in the universe was apparently created in one event, however, new theories are beginning to question the notion of the big bang altogether.

well god is a big joke. and if you go by the big bang theory then yes it is, all their was was that little ball of energy. there was no space around it and no time before it. this is impossible for the human brain to understand, but thats the idea.

theoretical physicist Janna Levin on Aug 24, 2006 as a guest on the Colbert Report said something along the lines of: the universe is probably finite, but its finite in a way we dont comprehend yet.
i think the same could be said about the beginning of the universe and time as well.

If you look at all the different varieties of planets in our own Solar system with no explainable answers to how this could possibly happen. It must be that everything is built on impossible insanity for people to argue over forever with no sane answers.

Imagine flying out in space. You have to get to and end eventually surely? So you reach this huge brick wall. There has to be something over it doesn't there?
So the same applies to a beginning, there must have been something before.
