I'm not sure what you situation is, for instance work, school, domestic, or what. When you refer to the fact that the person thinks you do things you are not supposed to do, I can offer some suggestions. If what you are doing does not really effect him directly or indirectly, then do not even consider his opinion. If what you are doing does effect him directly or indirectly, tell him what you think and then ask for his positive input. If he is negative or demeaning, say something to the effect of, "Well, thank you for your opinion." If he sounds like he is trying to see your point of view, and like he is attempting to make you understand his point of view, then ask, "What can we both do to improve this situation?"

IF YOU HAVE TRULY DONE NOTHING TO PROVOKE HIM THERE IS ONLY ONE REAL SOLUTION: YOU MUST IGNORE THE PROBLEM COMPLETELY WHILE DOING YOUR BEST TO BE OF GOOD CHEER WHEN YOU ARE AROUND THE POOR DELUDED FELLOW. DON'T REINFORCE HIS SNOTTY BEHAVIOR. DON'T SPEND A BIT OF ENERGY WORRYING ABOUT IT. OTHER PEOPLE CANNOT REALLY CONTROL YOUR ENVIRONMENT UNLESS YOU LET THEM.

Remember that this person is not worth your energy, not worthy of thought and move on.
