Well, I grew up with Janis Joplin and I had no idea Faith Hill even did a cover of this song but without even trying to find it and listen to it. I can not imagine anyone putting the emotion and raw, soulful, from the gut power into that song any better than Janis. Melissa Ethridge tried; no cigar...lol. I don't want to be closed minded to the possibility so I will try find it and then make a decision. I doubt it is going to change...I have Janis in my head right now...lol...that is going to make it a little tough for Faith. (jk)

I like Janis Joplin on this one but I was really impressed by the Faith Hill version. When Faith recorded Piece of my Heart she had never even heard the previous version by Janis Joplin. I like both pretty much. Janis Joplin had amazing talent though.

My Lord, Janis Joplin! Please! I've heard about half of Faith Hill's version at a time, either the first half because I turned it off halfway through or the last half because I walked into a room as it was playing and it's rude to turn off other people's radios and TVs.

Although I am a country fan I have to say Janis. Its like you can feel the pain in her voice when see sang that song. Faith's version just doesn't have as much passion in it as Janis' did.

I have not heard the Faith Hill version and even if I don't ever hear it I'm sure Janis Joplin's version is much, much better.

Faith Hill's...of course its the first version i heard and i have come to believe that the first version a person hears is usually the one they like...but honestly i felt like Janis Joplin screamed the song and did not do it justice....
