The 2.8L engine idles find w/ no missfire at all, spark and fuel pressure test good. TPS sensor V reading @ KOEO throttle closed reads 0.7v and climbs smoothly to 4.7v when opening throttle. Like I said this eng. will idle smooth and remain that way until I bring it up to about 2,800 RPM then it starts Stumbling like it is loading up and if I contenue to try raising the RPM it will fall flat on its face and die. After which it will not re-start unless I push the gas pedel all the way down (WOT).

If anyone has any knowledge of what else I should check or look for it sure would be very helpfull because I'm lost as to where to go from here. Other than take it to a shop.

Thanks in advance,
hyghwayman

Ok , update to the problem. The eng. will idle fine in Park or Drive, it's just when I try to increase the the RPM from 800 it is smooth until it get to about 2,800 RPM. this is the same whether in P or D.

Well I did a few more test and still can't resolve this problem so I guess it will be off to the repair shop tomorrow, unless someone here can point me in the right direction as to what to look for.

whats the fuel pressure at 2,800 rpms? can the pump keep up or is the regulator causing the problem? when the engine dies does it smell flooded?

If the engine speed can be increased without a load on it, but will not cruise at highway speeds, you need to replace your fuel pump, or replace the fuel filter. Or both.

I think it is the fuel pump or something clogged in fuel line.

Could be electrical, check sparkplugs...or fuel related, fuel or air filter or both.

are you driving ,while this occurs? if your setting still and raising the rpm it could be bouncing off the set rev limiter, built into pcm
