Don't uncheck ALL the boxes, just the ones corresponding to the programs you want to stop from running on startup.

First, check in Start > Programs > Startup, and delete anything there that may be listed.
Second, look at the system tray icons, right-click on each one that you don't want to start and look for its properties. Some of them will give you the ability to not load upon Windows startup.
Third, you can use the MSConfig tool to turn off startup items. BE CAREFUL because some of the things that startup are required by Windows to run, for stability, or for security. Check the link below for more information.
Good luck!

Go to the start up menu and click run. Type MSCONFIG and hit enter. From there click startup tab and a list of all your programs will come up that start on bootup, but be carefully on what you unclick as it may cause your computer to boot incorrectly. Or you can enter the setting of each program and change them there. Hope this helps.

Go into the programs one at a time that load up at boot time and change the settings not to load up when you are booting the computer. I believe in some programs this item is called preferences.

Easy way.
Let each program load. Then open the preferences on each one and find the "do not load at startup option."
Less easy.
Click Start > Run.
Type in "msconfig" without the ". Hit Enter.
Click on the startup tab and find the programs you don't want to run and uncheck them.
