I got my first BB gun when I was in 1st grade. It was a lever action, with a ring on the left side with a leather thong tied to it, a wood stock. I could only shoot it when I went to my parents' friend's farm. Then, "uncle Chet' would put old bottles and tin cans up on a stump for me to shoot at. I had that old BB gun for years and took good care of it, keeping it clean and well oiled just like 'uncle Chet' taught me. I was told if I EVER shot at an animal with it, I would have it taken away and it would be broken up and trashed. I never shot at an animal all the time I had it.

I had my own Daisy BB gun when I was 9, I also got my boys BB guns when they were 9. We used to go out and shoot at targets I would make. I also remember P shooter and the worst, spit wads.

Is the a reproduction? Guns made before 1898 are not legally considered firearms. But it's a moot point as the handgun ownership age in AZ was never raised to 21. You can own a handgun, just not buy it from a dealer.

When I was young I had a BB gun. I was taught to NEVER shoot it at a human being.
Having a BB gun is good practice for how to handle a gun.
Now spit wads on the other hand...

True. I had a Daisy BB gun. I don't remember the model. It is still at the farm where my brother now lives. It worked a few years ago.

My dad made me a gun from wood, and rubber bands made from old car tire inner tubes. You would shoot a small rock (pea size) by putting it in the rubber band and stretching it onto the gun. Heck, you can't find car tire inner tubes any more can you?
When my son was old enough he wanted the real thing. They won't settle for home-made any more I guess. But, home-made it was....long live tradition.

Me and my oldest grandson had a spit wad fight two weeks ago in McDonald's--until he got me square in the face with a lucky shot!
What was that about immature? :)
