That's nothing . The other day, I asked a
question and got 64 different answers to
my question...and I do mean different.
I was astounded.

Because communication is a very complex process. It goes from your brain to how you phrase something to the person who reads it and then how they interpret it. Not everyone comprehends everything the same way. When we read something, we have a lot of things that get in the way. It can be a previous question, something distracting us, something else we're thinking about, the fact that the question reminds us of something else. Or it just may be that the question may not be that clear to the readers.

To me, I really get bugged by people who get mad when I don't understand their point. It may be that I'm not familiar with what they are asking or there are missing parts to the question. I get annoyed because people think that because someone doesn't understand, they must be stupid.

As an example, that would be like me making a comment about the company I work for and no one else getting the point, when they are not familiar with the products or company terminology. Does that make them stupid? No, they just are not familiar with the concepts at my place of employment. The same goes for a question on this forum.

Not everyone comes from the same experiences and education as the person asking the question. So, it's unfair to get upset when the others don't get the question.

One could deduce, therefore, that reading comprehension is running at a rate of 20 - 30 percent. Maybe the other 70 - 80 percent are politicians who do that about 90 percent of the time.

I honestly think that some people do not read the entire question. It annoys me to no end. I asked some question about how or why women have mood swings during pregnancy. I had three people that honestly kept saying that I should be more sympathetic to my wife...huh? I have the ones that do not answer my question at all then attack my screen name.

Because sometime people will not read the entire question through before answering. I suppose it also depends on the type of language that you use and whether you are using a thesaurus.

Usually it's because the question was not clear.

Sometimes it is because people see a hidden agenda within a loaded question and choose to address that agenda instead of answering the question, directly.

Occasionally, it is because people would rather make their own points instead of answering the question.

Did I get the point of your question?

Many people's brain comprehend the words in the question differently.

Either the question isn't clear OR the person jumps into conclusions before completely reading the question...
