Different in each country, and in some countries different in each school.

Many schools in England seem to have adopted the USA system, I think including some to the things like report cards.

In the Netherlands, in general we get marks out of ten. (1 for effort if you have done nothing right, 6 is a pass, 10 the top, higher is impossible.)
Three of four times a year you get a card (called Raport) to take home, (or it is send home) with a mark for all your classes. These are the averages of what you have done since the last card.
The final card of the year decides whether you pass to the next year. All grades are averaged again, rounded to the nearest whole number, and again you need a 6 to pass.
We only do exams at the end of a school, we also keep all classes we select all the time, no three months classes, either you keep it, or it is not counted at all.

seem, you seem mature.. merely tutor them. the superb thank you to suggestions-set your dad and mom is by using being as honest as possible. you may say which you took the report card given which you felt a drop on your grades, and had to substantiate in the previous they have been given a carry of them. then you definitely found out you had a D, which you weren't watching for in any respect, which overwhelmed you; you felt a unhappiness so great which you may desire to no longer convey your self to tutor them the report card. you realize you have been incorrect, and you sense very upset in your self, and this is how long it took you to convey jointly the braveness to confront them. tell them this, and your odds of receiving utter punishment will cut back, I assure you...
