The mind's eye, the third eye, the single eye, all-seeing eye, Eye of Ra (Horus), etc. all refer to "clarity of vision" or discernment, a psychological state, meaning you are not at the mercy of ego illusions about Self and reality, i.e. are not delusional.

Rather than a window TO the soul, it is a window OF the observing soul/being.

I believe that the eyes are the window to the soul, and that the mind's eyes use the same window to authenticate the truthfulness of any incoming or outgoing notions.
Through the eyes, every thought or intention within one's soul is revealed; the happiness, the sadness, the fears, even love and loss. And the mind can work pretty well to understand its cause as it looks closely into this window of the soul.

So, the mind's eye is kind of like a mirror in front of a mirror, being the window to the soul of the mind? The mind thinks about it's own soul, yet the soul is in the mind?

So what is the soul of the mind if not the soul of the being? Are you implying that there are two separate souls of an individual (that of the body and that of the mind) ? If so then I was under the preseumption that the soul was of the being (the combination of the body and the mind) but we are all subject to error.

The mind's eye is the window to more than just the soul, through that you can see so very many things around you, your past, your future, and anything you concentrate on. It is a magnificent gift!

So then the eyelids are really the venetian blinds to the soul? It's a metaphor. It means you can often tell what a person is feeling (sad, happy, etc.) by the look in their eyes.
