Crying....I feel I am abruptly rushed back about 6 feet inside myself....as in the saying, "taken aback."

Laughing...I feel an abrupt, expansive, upward and outward movement, much like a large flower blossoming or a fan opening

I think that what precedes laughing or crying must be the same reaction because my twin sons who have bipolar disorder were able to cry and laugh at the same time. It was a hysterical reaction, of course but rather fascinating, if a bit frightening.

Right before I cry, my throat starts to ache like someone is choking me and then the back of my eyes burn with this intensity like fire and then the tears burst forth as if behind my eyes was NIagra Falls.
Right before I laugh, nothing; a loud, boisterous chuckle comes out and then I snort.
I sound like Chrissy Snow from Three's Company..

Scientifically there are sensors in the brain that trigger your emotions. In that 1/2 a second, you feel the flick of that switch like a catch in your breath, and then its there. Its the mind that triggers the hearts reaction. Action, reaction.

one half second before you laugh or cry, your mind has reached a crescendo of comprehension on a given point of knowledge--thus the appreciate reaction!
