The material and the spiritual bodies are one, spiritually we learn, either when we do things right or even wrong.
The material body is only a tool for the spirit within and sometimes both bodies tend to fight it out, this is where you learn to control your spiritual self and not let your material thoughts take the lead.
Remember this plane is a learning ground for you spiritually.

Have you every heard the phrase that a person is so spiritually minded they are no earthly use?
I believe that man was created as a spiritual being, but has allowed healthy appetites to become addictions, largely by being out of touch with spirituality. He does not recognise that this is the deepest most desperate desire of his heart, and feels only the deep and desperate desire itself, filling it with things from the outside: food, shopping, sex, prescription drugs, alcohol - all perfectly healthy activities in the right context, but very destructive in addicts, or for some unfortunates, even in small over-indulgences.
The spirit will soon be homeless if we neglect the body; and we'll be easily led into stupid behaviour if we neglect our minds. We need all three and we need to recognise the healthy balance needed for a full life.

A spiritual person is never satisfied either my experience and in some cases just as unfulfilled.
What matters is how giving a person is prepared to be. Whether they can empathise. Whether they can put others before themselves. Spritual people are not necessarily any better at any of these things all though they may be more inclined to try.

Both are essential. What is a spiritual person if there is no material body! Conversely, of what value is a robotic individual with no ethical and spiritual currency!
Your question is not quite clearly worded though but I think both levels of sustenance define a person.

I think a balance is needed. Also if we were totally satisfied in everything then we would never strive or learn. Motivation and effort are needed.
Self satisfaction is inward looking. What about preference for others?

being a material person can be good or bad, as can being a spiritual person...
it depends on the situation...and what YOU think is most important...
does that make sense?

The main thing is to live however difficult our desires may be to fullfill.
