definitely of Germanic descent not Greek. It is the Greek royal family that is also of Germanic descent, hence the confusion about Greece.(Prince Philip is closely related to the Greek Royal family and was born on the island of Corfu).

(TO NAMLEVRAM: ha,ha,ha...just read your answer and I had to laugh. You certainly have a point there!)

There is a lot of German blood in the family, but all the royal families of Europe are very intertwined, so it's very hard (if not impossible) to find any family that doesn't have at least some other nationality in them.
Prince Philip was born a prince of Greece, but his family was mostly German & Danish.

Technically they are of germanic descent. Before they took the name Windsor, their given name was Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, changed by King George V in 1917. Apparently, a germanic sounding name was deemed unpatriotic after the first World War broke out, and so he changed it to Windsor. Prince Philip was technically a prince of Greece and Denmark, but also a member of the germanic royal House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg. He is not technically of Greek descent.

I find it incredible that people still believe the propaganda about the royals. They are neither Germans nor Greeks (though some may be Geeks), they are shape shifting lizards of extraterrestrial origin, as has been proved conclusively by David Icke.

Undoubtedly, they are very British, but if we go by male ancestors, then the Queen is German because Victoria's husband Albert was German and even Victoria's own family is descended from George I, who was German. And Philip comes from a German family as well.

Answering this question, I recall the very diplomatic answer the Queen Mum gave to a Canadian when she was visiting Canada. When asked if she was a Scot or English, she replied, "Canadian." Following the Queen Mum's lead, the Royal Family is quintessentially British.
