Alright well ive had starting problems for about a year now but it never really bothered me because I always got it started around my third try. But now its taking a little longer but what is really bad is when i do get it started on rare occasions while i am backing out of my driveway the car shuts off completly but most of the time the car just shakes and until i really start going sometimes when i am pressing on the gas no gas is coming through. My check engine light is not on or anything but I would like to know what is wrong with my car before I take it in.

You don't give quite enough info or what kind of car or year or mileage. But I'm thinking you are fuel starved and might need a new fuel filter. Depending on what kind of car you may have in-line fuel filter under your car near the fuel tank. Go to the auto-parts store and either get a repair manual for your car or ask the guys at the store if they can tell you where to find your fuel filter on your car and ask how to remove it. Buy a new one and install it on your car. If that doesn't fix your car get back on here and give us more info on your car
year, make model, mileage, and symptoms. Good Luck

My car is a 2002, i had to do a number of things o solve the same problem, plugs and wires, and a coil pack.air filter and a fuel filter. the most important thing is to stop using the cheapest fuel grade. in the long run its going to cost you like it did me, i did this about a year ago and use nothing less than 89 octane fuel and havent had a problem since.

It could be your starte cylinoid or your starte itself. Does it sound like it spins when you start it? if so , its the starter. can you hear it click? you could also just have a bad connection from your battery to your starter. check your wires and make sure that there is no corrosion on your battery terminals.

Year.
Make.
Model.

That would have helped narrow down possibilties.

But I'm guessing fuel filter or fuel pump.
