I've gotten violation emails for things I didn't even do, or for saying "What?" when I didn't understand a question. Do you get so many, then get banned, or what?

AH! A prime case in point!! Your 3rd answer down: Monster!! In every sense of the word.
As I understand it, the answer "What?" could be deemed non-responsive, or "spam". It has to be reported, cuz otherwise if you'll notice; all manner of ugly, porn, and rude fly with no problem. I've been readig the Q&A around Polls & Surveys, and it seems this site is plagued by particularly nasty little trolls, whose sole joy in life appears to be destroying accounts. As the "violations are answered by 'bots; ultimately if it's reported, it's a violation. Not too much thought goes into investigation. If you're smart, you'll make your Q&A private, and also your contacts. That way, only people you've accepted as contacts have access to that info on your Profile page. It's a crap-shoot as to how many violations equal a suspension. It's according to the "severity" of the violation. (What that entails is apparently a secret only Y!A knows.) Good luck.
Oh. A "suspension" is a temporary banishment. A "deletion" wipes you out, supposedly never to return. Then you make a new account, and start over.Completely. All previous Best Answers, points, etc., are gone for good. (or bad.) That's what those ugly, obscene trolls do, anyhow.... They come back faster than the proverbial "bad penny".
Read the Community Guidelines like you are a Puritan Forefather. No protection against trolls, but...it'll give you an idea of what SOME of the problem may be.

I just got a violation yesterday....for defending Mexicans on a VERY racist and hateful question. The other people on the question all gave me a thumbs down and reported me...just because my answer didn't comply with their hateful ones. I don't know how many until you get banned. You need to write to the site when they ask you if you agree or not. Good luck.

Someone just decided that "what" wasn't an answer and reported you. Some people get their jollies from that function.lol To get banned, I think you need a lot of violations in one day, but that number can vary, so I'm not sure exactly how that works.

Don't sweat getting banned from Yahoo. It's a joke. On the other hand, if you get banned from the NFL, you might need to worry some.

sometimes you are banned forever , if you get too many violations you will be banned/ suspended. but most come back with a different name and start all over again.

Hair actually provides a natural padding to keep the area it grows over protected from blows to that area. Having the long hair bunched up under the helmet is better than having it cut short for this reason.

I haven't been on Y/A lately and it look like they are banning everyone.
Too bad this use to be a fun web site and a good place to spend some time.

You get the emails because if some lame person doesn't like your answer or something they report you for no reason.
I got reported because the person who asked the question said I didn't give enough detail in my answer.
It's stupid.
But Im sorry I don't konw how long you banned for.
