If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all.
It has been raining tomato soup on me all my life and I have never had anything but a knife and fork.
If my boat is sinking I am certain I will not be on any of the lifeboats.

Well, there are no certainties in life; you can take reasonable precautions though.
When traveling, use your common sense and don't trust what you can't see.
Where a life jacket at all times; that would be cumbersome though.
