Barry Bonds is not part of the MLB Players Association therefore his image cannot be used without the permission of Barry Bonds. EA hase a licensing agreement with the MLBPA to use the images of such players like Ken Griffrey , Jr and others, but would have to secure an agreement with Barry Bonds himself.

They do that in all the licensed baseball games because Barry does not allow his image to be used under the collective MLBPA. They'd have to pay extra for the rights to use his likeness, so they just create a fictional character to represent him. Joe Young and Jon Dowd are a couple of his other fictitious names.

Because their is a players union. If you're in the players union you automaticly are part of MLB video games.
Bonds isnt in him, so he's replaced by some other guy who has the same stats and skills as Bonds.

In order to be in those games you have to sign the rights to your name - he opted out of the MLBPA licensing agreement like Michael Jordan did.
Licensing. Bonds (who is a member of the MLBPA) has for several years opted out of the group licensing agreements that the union offers to its members which are used for licensing the names and likenesses of its constitutent players (including Bonds, except he opts out) to various licensors.
If a video game maker wants to include Bonds they must deal directly with him or his representatives.
All union members have the right to opt out, Bonds is the only one who chooses to do so that I know of

I dont know, it doesnt make no sense. Its the same thing for MLB 06. "Reggie" has the same stats as Barry, same number, same at-bat. Makes no sense at all.
