NOT!

Not the party of justice & morality, or else they wouldn't have had a bad apple in the first place!

Recall also the Congressman who was suggestively e-mailing to the pages.

Recall also Newt Gingrich who left his wife in the hospital for another woman.

They dealt with Craig in this manner only because they did not want another "Mark Foley" on their hands. In reality, they would have let this man "stay the course" indefinitely if it were not for the coming elections. This is a party of liars, deceivers and most of all, Hypocrites.

"The party of justice and morality" has the morals of the one who has been a liar from the beginning. This party will be cast down, and Crimson Tide rejected in favor of Blue Sky.

Republicans 'handled' this matter expeditiously so that it could be erased from voters' memories by election time.
If they wanted to get rid of all the "bad apples in their barrel", there would be no Republicans (or Democrats) left in Congress. Every one of these political cretins is either a womanizer; cross dresser; homosexual; adulterer; wife beater; cheat; fraud; psychopathic liar; pedophile; drug abuser; prescription-pill popper; alcoholic; shoplifter; war monger or some other kind of criminal - maybe even a murderer or two.
These 'honorable' public servants have set themselves up as some kind of privileged royalty (as evidenced when Larry Craig showed his Congressional I.D. and asked, 'What do you think about that?'). They believe themselves to be above the laws they make for the rest of us.
I do not agree that Republicans "quickly got rid of this bad apple" - they saw Craig as a political liability, and did what they did to save their own skins. There is nothing of honor about what they did; only of blatant hypocrisy.
As for Republicans being the party of justice and morality, you might want to consider:
* Newt Gingrich, who divorced his wife while she suffered from cancer, so he could continue carrying on with his mistress;
* Richard Nixon, whose paranoia led to 'dirty tricks' and a third-rate burglary at the Watergate Hotel;
* Ronald Reagan, who proudly announced at his own inauguration, that 444 American hostages were flying over free air space; it was only years later that we learned of his despicable 'arms-for-hostages' deal that became known as the infamous IranContra affair;
* Ronald Reagan, whose mistress (Nancy) was pregnant before he divorced his first wife (Jane Wyman);
* An absurd 'investigation' that cost taxpayers millions of dollars so Republicans could shame Bill Clinton because he had an extra-marital liaison with another consenting adult;
* Republican 'dirty tricks" which spread rumors of Ed Muskie's "mental illness" during the campaign season;
* George H.W. Bush, who had numerous girlfriends while Barbara sat home and took care of his kids;
* George W. Bush, whose father's wealth, power and influence kept him from serving time for public intoxication, drunken driving, possible rape, and also kept him from having to serve time in the military;
* Tom Foley, who resigned in disgrace (although never lost his lifetime pension or extraordinary taxpayer-provided medical benefits) after it was discovered that he was seducing underage Congressional pages online;
* Dwight Eisenhower, who carried on a longtime extra-marital affair behind Mamie's back, even after the war.

Of course, there will be those who scream, "Well, the Democrats did the same kinds of things!!" True, and that makes them as much 'scum' as our Republican political leaders. The only difference is: your point was that the GOP is supposedly the 'party of justice and morality" - which, obviously, isn't the case. -RKO- 09/02/07

No, it just proves they had to tuck tail and run. The conservatives our now to scared to defend one of their own and that is what has turned off their base. I am a conservative and other then Iraq I think me and others want to see them hit back and defend their embattled colleagues instead of running. Anybody else think so?
