If you mean something that will make them grow large like a vegetable Barry Bonds, the answer is no. Fertilizer always helps.

However if you want a giant pumpkin those are really hybrids of pumpkin with squash, not just an ordinary pumpkin.

Well, yes, but I can't guarantee how they will effect pumpkin development. There was a question on this, or close to it today or yesterday. You start by planting growing the proven varieties that produce the massive squash. Then you plant in excellent soil...feed requently with manure tea, compost, organic fertilizer....and maybe some chemical stuff, but you have to watch the proportions of the nutrients, not all fertilizer is the same......and keep them watered.

Now as far as a "steriod" you could try a plant auxin such as Gibberillic acid:

It is a cheat as it doesn't increase the number of cells in the leave or squash, but rather makes each cell grow larger, filled with water. In tomatoes it makes big tomatoes that have no flavor....just watery. For a giant pumpkin.........hmm, it might end up unable to support itsself so your pumpkin could turn out like a pancake. Worth an experiment though!!
